This month, McSweeney's will publish The Middle Stories, a collection of tales by Canadian author Sheila Heti. She will be touring in support of the book with the first ever US Trampoline Hall Tour. They will make a stop in Louisville on November 22. Buy the book, see the tour, enjoy yourself.

We'll meet in the restaurant, so look for the folks at the really fun table. Pick up a copy of You Shall Know Our Velocity (the current selection), bring a friend, and join us for a fun-filled discussion. Pick up a copy of McSweeney's 9 too -- it is very very good and may be a future reading group selection.

Mention the McSweeney's Reading Group when buying this book from Joseph-Beth Booksellers, Lexington, and receive a 10% discount!

We still promote a "the more, the merrier" approach to reading group meetings. Friends, acquaintances, coworkers and benignly interesting-looking strangers one encounters here and there are always welcome. Drop us a note if you want to be added to the mailing list or if you have questions about the reading group.

It was wonderful!
Thanks to everyone at Joseph-Beth for hosting a tremendous event (and sharing the photos).

Just in time for holiday giving (and receiving): This winter McSweeney's will offer a special cellophane-wrapped Issue 1-3 Gift Set !

McSweeney's 10 will be guest edited by Michael Chabon. We like him: he has an interesting web site plus a passion for both comics and Nabokov (not to mention a Pulitzer).

Does great literature have to be difficult? Ben Greenman talks with Jonathan Franzen about whether a novel's difficulty is related to it's quality as literature.
